Durga Puja 2025 – A Celebration of Faith, Culture & Togetherness.

For Bengalis living thousands of miles away from home, Durga Puja is far more than a festival — it is an emotion, a connection to our roots, and a few precious days when the sights, sounds and spirit of Bengal come alive again. At Sutton Bengali Association (SBA), that feeling is recreated through the beat of the dhaak, the fragrance of dhuno, the serenity of Puja and Pushpanjali, and the warmth of sharing lovingly prepared, home-cooked Bengali bhog together.

Across three festive days, SBA Durga Puja welcomed a footfall of over 2,000 people, embraced not only by Bengalis but by Indians and non-Indians alike. It has grown into a celebration where faith and festivity meet community and inclusion — attended over the years by Mayors, Members of Parliament, Councillors and other dignitaries, and made possible through the generosity of our wonderful sponsors and the dedication of our volunteers. From Bengali food and colourful festive stalls to cultural performances and our special Durga Puja souvenir Agomoni, every element carries a little piece of the Pujo we remember from home.

Perhaps most importantly, SBA Durga Puja is about carrying that heritage forward. For children growing up away from Bengal, it creates a living connection with their roots — a place where they experience our traditions rather than simply hear about them. Through Puja and Pushpanjali, cultural performances, quizzes, Sit & Draw and other children’s activities, they participate, perform, learn and form friendships around a shared heritage. Generations come together under one roof: grandparents remembering the Pujo of their childhood, parents recreating those memories in a new country, and children discovering what those traditions mean to them. In that coming together lies the essence of SBA Durga Puja — preserving our heritage without standing still, sharing it beyond our own community, and creating a home away from home where devotion, culture and belonging pass naturally from one generation to the next.
